Privacy Policy
In short
- Your game records are stored only on your device and never reach us.
- To show ads, device identifiers and similar data are sent to Google (AdMob).
- On iOS, the advertising identifier is used only if you allow it. On Android, you can delete it in your device settings.
- Once you buy "Remove Ads", the app makes no ad-related connections.
Overview
This policy explains how information is handled in the iOS and Android versions of Mahjong Score Logger ("the app"), provided by Paper App Studio ("we"). We receive no personal data through the app and run no servers. The app does use Google AdMob to show ads, so the information needed to deliver ads is sent from your device to Google. Android versions earlier than 1.0.0 show no ads and send none of this.
Ads and what is sent to Google
The app shows banner ads, delivered by Google AdMob (Google LLC). The Google SDK in the app sends the following directly to Google. All we see are aggregate figures such as impressions and revenue.
- Device identifiers
- The advertising identifier (on iOS, the IDFA, only if you allow it; on Android, the advertising ID, unless you have deleted it in your device settings) and a per-app identifier.
- IP address
- Also used to estimate your general location.
- Ad interactions
- Impressions, taps, and the like.
- Device and app information, diagnostics
- Device model, OS and app version, language, and how the ad SDK is performing.
It is used to deliver ads (including interest-based ads where you have given permission or consent), limit how often you see an ad, measure performance, and prevent fraud. It may be processed outside your country. Your game records are never sent. For Google's handling, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Your choices
On iOS, the system asks on first launch whether you allow tracking. Everything works if you decline; the IDFA is then not used and ads are not based on your interests. You can change this any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
On Android, no permission prompt is shown. You can delete or reset your advertising ID in Settings › Google › All services › Ads (on some devices, Settings › Privacy › Ads). Once it is deleted, the advertising ID is not used and ads are not based on your interests. Everything still works.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the app asks on first launch for your consent to the use of information for advertising (that consent is the legal basis for the processing). You can change or withdraw it any time from "Ad privacy settings" (広告のプライバシー設定) in the app's settings.
Purchases and the stores
Buying and restoring "Remove Ads" goes through the App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android, and Apple or Google processes the payment. We never receive your payment details. After the purchase, the app does not start the ad SDK, request ads, or ask for the permission or consent described above.
Data stored on your device
Your game records (placement, score, notes, venue names), settings, and purchase status are stored only on your device. They may be included in device backups such as iCloud or backups to your Google Account. You can delete individual records from the list, and uninstalling the app erases everything.
Copying your data
"Copy data to clipboard" only places your records on the clipboard as text (TSV). The app never sends your records anywhere.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your name, email address, and message. We use them only to reply, never pass them to third parties, and delete them within one year after the matter is resolved.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher age set by the law where you live), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
The only data we hold is our correspondence with you. To request access, correction, restriction, or deletion, email the address below (free of charge). For information Google handles, make requests to Google as described in the Google policy linked above. You may also lodge a complaint with your country's data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date.
